Overview
Known under his artist alias JES, Jens Erik Sørensen is an artist and art historian. Born in Hadsund, Denmark in 1946, he was the Director of ARoS Art Museum in Aarhus from 1984 until 2013. In addition, he co-founded Copenhagen Contemporary and acted as the institution’s first director. JES aims to explore and challenge modernism of the last century with an ambition to renew and expand the artistic movement with new images from our time.
